Many of us are still recovering from four days of over-eating and over-spending from this past holiday weekend. It was, I’ll admit, a nice distraction from the chaos unleashed everywhere by the recent election season.
Thanksgiving for me is a time to reflect on what and who I am thankful for in my life. It’s a great opportunity to reset and remember what matters most. Family, friends, and health are usually at the top of my list.
And opportunity. The older I get, the more I’m aware of and grateful for the advantages and privileges I have in my life that are wholly unearned. Chief among them is that I was born into a family where I would never doubt for a second that I was loved and cared for. And, I’ve never spent a moment in my life worrying about where my next meal would come from.
This is so easy to take for granted. Yet, so many are not so lucky including far, far too many children.
- 1 in 5 kids in U.S. don’t get the food they need
- 13 million kids in the U.S. struggle with hunger
When kids are hungry, it harms both their physical development and their ability to learn.
No child should suffer this way. This cannot be okay with of us. We can do something about it.
Today, on #GivingTuesday, please join me in making a donation to No Kid Hungry. Every dollar donated provides up to 10 meals for children who need them. Even a small donation goes a long way
No Kid Hungry is an amazing organization committed to ending childhood hunger. Your donation supports programs with the goal that every child in the U.S. has access to healthy food where they live, learn, and play.
Let’s join together today to give back as a way of expressing our gratitude for all of the advantages we have in our lives. We can make a difference.
I am thankful for you. Let’s do this.
